I created this painting during a period when I was carrying an enormous amount of pressure. I chose to stay positive, to keep searching for fulfilment even in the middle of it, but there was a part of me that simply wanted to erupt, to break through everything holding me in place, and finally be free, only me and my soul, nothing else. That feeling became this painting.
After I finished it, many people who saw it, mostly women, told me they felt the exact same thing looking at it. Even now, when I look at this piece, I can still feel that pressure, that pain, still living inside the canvas. Freedom was never about the absence of struggle in this painting. It is what rises out of it, the moment the weight finally breaks and something in you is finally allowed to reach toward the sky.
