Oil Painting Workshop (Ages +12 and up)
Level 1: Oil Painting for Beginners
Duration: 6 weeks (1 session per week)
Day: Friday 15:30 - 17:00
Session Length: 1.5 hours
Description:
This workshop is open to teens aged 12 and up, focusing on foundational oil painting skills. Level 1 introduces essential techniques like black-and-white studies, color theory, and simple subject painting. Students who wish to continue can advance to higher levels, where they will explore more complex subjects, live object painting, and eventually portrait and figure painting. Each level builds on the previous one, ensuring a progressive learning experience. Full details of Level 2 & 3 &4 onward will be shared with those interested in continuing their artistic journey.
When students finish their 4th Level, I am delighted to announce that I will organize a group art exhibition to showcase their artwork to the public.
Week One:
What They Will Learn:

Importance of Using Oil Paints in Black & White:
• Understand why black and white painting is essential for developing strong contrast and form. -
Learn About Brushes, Canvases, Tools, and How to Use Them Properly:
• Explore different brushes, canvases, and tools, focusing on correct usage and care.
Introduction to Oil Painting:
• Apply their understanding of black and white using gradients on canvas.
Week Two:
Black & White Exploration:
• Learn how to draw on canvas in different ways.
• Draw an object.
• Paint a simple subject to understand contrast, form, and composition.
• Focus on learning by practicing how to use tools and paints correctly.
Week Three:
Color Theory Basics:
• Introduction to primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.
• Paint a color wheel to understand the relationships between primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.
Week Four:
• Practice creating color using primary colors (key session).
• Outdoor color studies from nature and surroundings.
Week Five:
• Apply knowledge by painting on canvas from a provided picture.
Week Six:
• Finalize the painting. If the painting isn’t finished, students will continue working on it during the next session.
Materials:
- All materials (paints, brushes, canvases, tools, and aprons) are provided.
Next Steps:
The students may continue to Level 2 after completing Level 1.
Registration and Attendance Policy
Level One Fee:
- 6 Sessions (Once a week)
- Day & Time: Friday, 16:00 – 17:30
- Total Cost: €210 (€35 per session)
Registration:
- Students must register by paying the full amount for all 6 sessions in advance to secure their spot in the workshop. Spaces are limited, and early registration is recommended.
Attendance:
- Students are allowed to miss one session during the 6-week course.
- If a student misses a session, they can attend a make-up class on another day within the same week (subject to availability).
- If a student misses two sessions, they will lose the second class.
- To catch up, they must register and pay for an additional session to cover the missed lesson.
Commitment:
- Consistency is key to progressing in oil painting, so regular attendance is encouraged to ensure students get the most out of the workshop.
