Autumn is often seen as an ending, but it is really only a passage. Leaves fall, seasons change, moments slip through our hands no matter how tightly we try to hold them. Yet beneath all that letting go, the tree does not disappear. It grows. Its roots deepen, its trunk widens, and what looks like loss on the surface is quietly building strength underneath. A person moves through life the same way, shedding old versions of themselves season after season, and growing larger, wiser, more rooted with every cycle that passes.
Rumi wrote, "Every fragile beauty, every perfect forgotten sentence, you grieve their going away, but that is not how it is. Where they come from never goes dry. It is an always flowing spring." Nothing beautiful is ever truly lost. It becomes part of what comes next, folded into the growth of the tree, the person, the story still being written.
